The quality of public transport is an important consideration when deciding whether to invest or live in a city. Madrid has one of the best public transport systems in the world.

Madrid received the highest rating in a study conducted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the quality of public transport in the cities bidding to host the 2012 Olympic Games.

CERCANÍAS

A commuter rail system (Cercanías) connects the city of Madrid with the other towns in the region and is one of the most modern systems in Europe in terms of the range of passenger services and features. In 2003, the average punctuality of the commuter train service was 98%

AUTOBUSES

With a length of 3,000 km, Madrid’s urban bus network is the longest in Europe. Sixty-four percent of buses in Madrid are equipped for the disabled.
