Madrid By Air

Madrid-Barajas

With over 40 million passengers a year, Madrid Barajas Airport is Spain’s main airport and one of the five largest in Europe.

Madrid Barajas Airport was recently expanded and a new terminal building (T4) opened in February 2006. Both this and the satellite building (T4s) are authentic modern, functional and flexible architectural masterpieces, where the abundant natural light takes centre stage. The new terminal has a capacity for 35 million passengers a year and over 10,000 during rush hour.

Connections with the city:

The airport can be reached by bus 101 (Canillejas-Aeropuerto-Pueblo de Barajas) or line 200, which departs from Avenida de América and stops at the airport (the EMT red buses).

Underground line 8 (from Nuevos Ministerios to Barajas) provides a direct connection between the airport and the city centre.

By bus: Line 201 from Barajas Underground Station (T4), Line 204 from Avda. de América (T4), Line 827 from Alcobendas and Tres Cantos (T4) and Line 828 from Alcobendas (T4).

Shuttle buses: These buses connect the 4 terminals, are free, leave every 3 minutes and take just a few minutes to complete the journey.
