Madrid still holds steadfastly to its taste for tradition. In the Puerta del Sol, one of Madrid’s main shopping districts, the visitor will still find small shops with centuries of history that are still thriving today. These are family-run businesses that have been producing their own products for several generations and with the same dedication as in the old days, thus lending the product a genuine and authentic feel.
Pretty and good value for money…
Madrid’s open-air markets are an age-old tradition. Every week, the streets of the city are filled with countless stalls brimming with the most varied of products, attracting tourists and Madrid dwellers alike in search of bargains. Little by little, these bazaars began to specialise and the capital nowadays offers everything from traditional food and clothing markets, to more specialised markets for stamp, miniature and coin collectors.

Signature establishments
Athletes, actors, journalists, models... many have decided to open their own shops, restaurants or outlets, which are now among the most fashionable in Madrid.
