UCLM Campus
The University Castilla- La Mancha
The University Castilla- La Mancha was established through a law constituted on June 30th, 1982, which was then put into effect in 1985; although historically, various institutions existed in what was officially the territory of the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha, such as the Convento University.
The University of Castilla La- Mancha is a regional institution which is structured into four campuses: Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo. The creation of The University of Castilla La- Mancha has entailed prominent social progress and has radically democratised the access of young people to university education.
Toledo Campus
Situated on top of a hill and surrounded by the river Tajo, Toledo is a city of great historical importance. The Romans called it "Toletum", initiated the use of coins and built a circus as well as an aqueduct.

In the middle of the VI century Leovigilido converted Toledo into the capital of his kingdom. The Muslims called Toledo, from 712, "Tolaitola". A Christian city since 1085, where Jewish, Arabs and Christians lived peacefully for 500 years.
In the XIII century, the "Escuela de Traductores de Toledo" was established which passed on the Classics and Eastern philosophies to the West. Toledo was a favourite town and home of the kings, thus also capital until 1561. The same year, Felipe II moved the court to Madrid.
Only a few cities possess such an impressive collection of architectural monuments of all periods and cultures. This makes the centre of Toledo an authentic museum. Toledo has been named a World Cultural Heritage site.
After the announcement of the autonomous state in 1982, Toledo was elected as the capital of Castilla- La Mancha, representing the administrative centre of the region containing a population of 66.989 inhabitants.
